Miami Class Assembly

On November the 4th Year 5 Miami Class had their class assembly.
The theme students in the primary school are learning all about is Knowledge so Year 5 gave the audience some knowlenge of their own. They did that by testing them with some clickers instead of the audience just watching them. They had four rounds; Literacy, Geography, Science and History.

For Literacy they talked about their work on Dick King Smith earlier that term, they also told the audience some facts they researched on their favorite authors that they were assigned as homework to make a presentation. The audience was showed some of the books the children had written in the style of Dick King Smith.

In the Geography round they talked about what they found out on their Thematic Learning theme of Migraton. The children described most of the reasons people might migrate such as; natural disasters, political unrest, war and jobs.

Science was all about their research on whales and how they migrate. They talked about the two types of whales (Baleen and Toothed whales) and some of the species of whales included. The audience was also told many facts about whales.

And finally in the Science round the whole of Miami Class performed a play all about Guy Fawkes because on November 5th (the day after the assembly) it way Guy Fawkes day also known as Bonfire Night.

The clicker scores ended up with Year 5 Philadelphia in first place!
Well done Philadelphia!

This is the end of the fantastic blog!

Whale Watching

On Friday 7th October Year 5 went on a whale watching trip; By the way it was awesome!! :)
Year 5 saw only Humpback whales but they were still more awesome than seeing nothing! Humpbacks are one of the biggest whales in the world but the blue whales are the biggest whale/animal in the world, they are almost extinct. Year 5 had a lot of fun even though there were a few people who got sea sick.

Whales are amazing animals because they have so much talent in swimming.

That is the end of the amazing blog about whale watching.

Learning :-)

Learning is awesome because it just is! Well actually there are many many ways to learn........
You can learn:
Physically
Visually
Naturally
Individually
And in many more ways...
The joy of learning is that you can do it with anything you like. Especially friends!

Also did you know that every day you learn something new like we learnt that blob in french is la goutte! That was really interesting! :o

Just enjoy yourself when you are learning and when you do try and make it as funny as possible. That is true because your learning becomes like riding on a roller coaster! :)

Soccer Club! :-P

Here at the British School of Boston there is an awesome soccer club.  In soccer they have been working on shooting and most soccer skills.
They go to this cool club every Tuesday at either the BSB
gym or the BSB field. In the soccer club they have to split up into 2 teams and "compete" against each other. They have also been competing against other schools around BSB.

Considering the fact that they are a club they are still really good.

Also here at BSB the is a higher age group soccer team (Year 7+up) Last year in the higher age group and the lower age group they have been competing in competions against other schools such as Dexter and Roxbury Latin. They have had many wins and we hope that they will have lots of victories this year aswell.
Good luck to the soccer teams!
